Who can you justify families on benefit receiving £26,000 that is more than most working families earn.

I can understand why the government want to cap befits as for a large number of people reviving large benefit payments there is no incentive for them to seek employment. My argument is why should hard working low income tax payers subsidise people who have no intention of ever contributing positively to society. It is far too easy to use the excuse that there are no suitable jobs or that they don’t have the qualifications, I find this difficult when we have a large number of hard working eastern Europeans who manage to secure employment with the disadvantage of English being there second language.

I have had a number of dealings with Virgin broadband over the years I have had an account none have been particularly pleasant.

I have the always had difficulty getting hold of a person that can resolve my problem and when I do they have often been abrupt and unhelpful.

This is also the experience of my sister-in-law who last year moved her whole package to sky, having nothing good to say about them, back to me.

My father died last year and they still insisted on charging me over twenty pounds for terminating his broadband, the caring face of Virgin broadband.

I recently decided that I would move to BT as Infinity is now available and I can take advantage of the faster connection speed so I called Virgin for a MAC address number, after manoeuvring my way through there automated system I was then put on hold for 15 minutes. The call was then answered by a man that I could only describe as rude, I may have not been my usual soothe self only when someone stops me in conversation to say I am not listing to them it tends to have a negative effect. I wanted to terminate my account and have my Mac address emailed to me not listen to a sales pitch for more virgin services I don’t want, if they had been able to offer me an optic fiber connection then I would have been interested, though he did go as far to say I would not get a bitter speed than what he was offering which is blatantly not true.

The conversation ended with we will be charging you over twenty pounds which was verbally hurled down the phone line like a javelin.

So my advice stay well clear.

Is it any wonder the French have a bad reputation in the UK for being two faced wingers always complaining. There triple A rating is at threat and there first course of action is not to look to what they can do to correct the situation they look to transfer the attention on to another country. The only defence of their triple A rating France could come up with was to attempt to transfer the attention on to the UK, the UK economy is irrelevant to the rating of the French yet the only comments they seem to be able to make is the UK should be dropped first, thank you France.

French finance minister Francois Baroin earlier described the UK's economic situation as "very worrying."

Mr Baroin's comments came after the chairman of the French central bank, Christian Noyer, suggested on Thursday that Britain was a candidate for a downgrade ahead of France, amid fears in Paris that France might lose its triple-A rating.

The French prime minister, Mr Fillon, raised similar concerns during a visit to Brazil.

"When I look at our British friends, who are even more indebted than us and carrying a bigger deficit, what I see is that the ratings agencies so far don't seem to have noticed," he said on Thursday

When will politicians stop bowing to what they believe the voters want and put together a strategy to bring the country out of what looks like recession.

This government is already responsible for higher levels of taxation than the previous Labour government now they are also looking to limit executives pay. Given the governments record to date they should concentrate on getting the country out of the mess it is in instead of attempting to run private companies. It is no wonder that this country is seeing little growth in the economy, why should capitalists invers all, risk all to be taxed to the hilt. It appears that the state wants to control board room pay without the need to invest.

This government should spend more time developing a growth strategy, further reducing spending along with reductions in employers national insurance, corporation tax, scrap the minimum wage, working time directive and the young persons in the work place act.

Virgin Money may not have secured a BOGOF, it is my opinion they got something even better, a 50% reduction.

A black day if you are a tax payer, spent £1.4bn in 2008 and is about to sell Northern Rock it to Virgin Money for £747m so we tax payers are covering the losses.

The improvements that are urgently needed aremore detailed instructions on how to use and configure the system, the currentinformation is pitiful, Google can get away with this as their products are intuitive.

Better integration of the calendar functionwith Office.

My final comment would be stop trying to creatework for consultants to configure the system for you, most small business arenot interested they will just use Google.

The UK government has announced one of the most ambitious energy saving scheme ever allowing up to £10,000 to be spent on energy saving products from insulation, new high efficient central heating boiler to solar panels. The cost of the improvements will be in the form of a loan that will be repaid as part of your energy bill. This scheme is already behind schedule, it is now planned for last quarter 2012, given the state of the economy this initiative is needed now. I personally would like to upgrade my central heating boiler to a new condensing boiler and fit photovoltaic solar panels to my roof and I would like to take the benefit this year not 2013 which it will be before the system is sorted applications are processed, surveys have been completed and work has been completed.

I do hope like most government schemes the paranoia of misappropriation of funds will not lead to the usual bureaucracy, employing vast amounts of consultants who add no value to the process other than provide the bureaucrats with degree of confidence.

So why is this taking so long, the government regulates the energy companies if it wants to force them to collect the loan repayments they just need to pass the legislation, as for the companies providing the products why not just issue a tender award a number of companies the rights and let them do the rest.

It is unlikely that this scheme will be on time as with most government schemes they seem to be incapable of speedy implementation of an initiative, the hole process is so bogged down with unnecessary bureaucracy choking the system, is it not time to have a rethink and streamline government

The product is very good, the functionality is also very good so where is the down side, there technical support is diabolical.

I don’t know if it is a staffing issue or a cultural thing, when it comes to assisting their customers the experience is just bad. It is hard to see why they spend money and effort on wining new business through good products and marketing when there technical support is just letting the company down.

You can have a problem with your site being down and raise a ticket on their technical support site and the chances are the site will be back up before you get a response. When you have a genuine really technical issue you may be lucky and get a person that is interested and will help more often than not you just get a stock response and no help at all.

It is now 2 hours from raising a ticket and my site is still down, I have had no response to the ticket I marked as critical.

My web site is now back up 2hours and 40 minutes later still no email from technical support

It is now over 3hours and my site is still up, not email from technical support and I am starting to lose interest I am sure to get an email as they always respond eventually.

Finally I got a response 5 hours later, I would say the down time cost me a considerable amount.

Iain Duncan Smith is attempting to accelerate the increase in the state pension age, this is unacceptable people need time to plan and make arrangements.

The statement that people are living longer may be true for some it is not true for the worse off in society where there life expectancy is significantly less and in general productivity and capability id vastly reduced passed the age of 65.

Given the current unemployment level keeping people above 65 in the job market will jus t force more young people on to social security creating generations of jobless and problems for decades to come.

So I will be looking for a political party that has a more rational approach to retirement age the job market and unemployment strategy.

Sky movies is an ideal solution for people with no short and long term memory, you could then watch the endless repeat of the same movies over and over again.

I don’t know how long it is before they replace a movie with a new one, they have been showing clash of the Titans for about 6 months.

I am thinking of cancelling my movie subscription as you can watch the movies over a week and then you just get the same movies endlessly repeated over and over again.

It is about time Sky had some competition to force them to improve their offering.

I would have liked to try Any Time plus only you have to have Sky broadband which is not an option for me as I need broadband for work and Sky broadband is not an option.

Through my door came a small white card addressed to me about postcard size at first pass I noticed it came from the council office it also had a Suffolk costal District Council logo, beyond that its message was unclear.

It referred to the revised core strategy that is being moved to consultation. After reading the hole card and cross referring to the councils web site the true meaning became clear.

This is a trough pice of toning down the message, I think someone has been watching too much Yes Minister, a good document to be referred to the plain English campaign.
The true nature of the document is the planed Adastral New Town which other than our elected officials and the companies making money out of the project is unpopular with the hole of the electorate, true democracy at work.
So with a subject like Adastral New Town it is no wonder that they have made the document so obscure that most people will not make the connection. Trough democracy at work, let the electorate think they have a say then just carry out the plan regardless.

It’s not as if the community is getting a benefit out of this, faster broadband or a better road network, the existing A14 and A12 are becoming a problem and will only get worse, I have been considering moving my business to somewhere more central neat the A11 this will probably be the decider.

Is there more corruption than we think?
I recently tendered for a contract on the tender site CompeteFor, this was for the London Metropolitan Police.
The tender was completed and after the closing date we where emailed to inform us that we had been successful and awarded the tender.
A couple of days later we received an holding email from the Met purchaser stating that they were not familiar with the competeFor procedure and to be patient.
We egerly awaited an order, nothing, we emailed the purchaser to see what the situation was, nothing, we emailed again, nothing, bit of a theme here then finally we received an email.
The email stated Following on from my previous email there was errors beyond my control within my CompeteFor and an award should not have not been sent to any suppliers. I did liaise with the people in charge of CompeteFor to recall the award however I am unsure if this happened. The items listed on CompeteFor are no longer required.
This statement is in conflict with previous communications and I somewhat suspect that the statement, the items are no longer required means that they have already been purchased somewhere else.

So what can be deduced

The purchasing procedures at the metropolitan police are so loose that tenders are generated when there is no demand, possible though unlikely.

Tenders are awarded and they decide to completely ignore the procedure and place the order elsewhere.

This raises the question where there is lack of control and due scrutiny there is opportunity for abuse, this has a tendency to lead to corruption, I will let you come to your own conclusions.

I have been a customer of UK2 for 3 years during this time I have put up with their email server going into melt down, server down time and an array of other problems.

To be fair when things are going well they provide an excellent service, there up time is also good.

Like a lot of companies they would be excellent if only they could sort out there technical support, like a lot of companies focused on the volume end of the market they rapidly forget the importance of the customer.

This is remarkable as the other half of the company the marketing department spends an enormous amount of time bombarding you with emails about their latest product offering.

They used to offer me a call back service for an additional monthly cost only they discontinued this for my product, no warning just disappeared though they did stop charging me for the service. The service was never that sharp you would drop them an email they were supposed to call you back, sometimes they did some times they did not, when they did I can honestly say they were excellent.

Now I am faced with filling in a service ticket and at some point you get an abrupt email telling you it is all your fault or it is not our problem or we have passed that on to our second tier team, after multiple emails when you are desperate you hope that the problem has solved itself.

It was better when Ditlev Bredahl was CEO as you could always email him with your problem and you knew they would be resolved, this is not possible with the new CEO as he is not so free with his email address. It is not surprising the level of customer service is so terrible as everyone takes their lead from the top.

If I had one recommendation for UK2 it would be spend a little less on marketing and a little more on customer service and support, value your customers, you will not only keep more you will win more.

After reading the Semex website about Alresford fishery I thought I would take a look and if it lived up to its description may be give it a go.

Set up the satnav and amazingly it took me to the entrance of the site clearly marked by a large Semex singe, turned down the lane which turned out to be about ½ a mile of gravel path with potholes the size you could stock with fish and put pegs around. I was not to impressed, though I thought I would persevere only to be met by a large gate with a padlock and a not to friendly sign saying you could only enter if you have purchased a day ticket, even if you only want to have a look around. The worst part was the fact that they hardly provide any room to turn around when you reach the gate, not very thought full.

After my visit it is hardly likely that I will find out how good the lakes are.

The world’s most famous chronograph

The OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Chronograph has a unique place in the history of space exploration as the only piece of equipment to have been used in all of NASA's manned space programs from Gemini in the mid-1960's to the current International Space Station program. Even before its official approval, it had been the private choice of astronauts on two of the one-man Mercury missions.

Earning a nickname: “We choose to go to the moon ...”

President John F. Kennedy’s challenge to send an astronaut on the Moon was particularly audacious considering that when he first voiced it, only one American had been in space for a grand total of 15 minutes and 28 seconds.

When Buzz Aldrin stepped onto the lunar surface in July of 1969, the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional earned its distinctive nickname, The Moonwatch.

Like no other chronograph

Speedmaster was designed to stand apart from other chronographs. A black dial, luminous hands, tachometer scale, water-resistant case, screw-in back, domed crystal and an additional inner cover to protect the movement incorporate the strong character of an instrument watch. The characteristic Speedmaster dial has minute and hour chronograph counters which are complemented by a third sub-dial for the small seconds. The central chronograph seconds hand is activated and stopped by the top pusher on the side of the watch and reset with the bottom one.

Essentially unchanged since 1957

In 1957 OMEGA introduced the very first Speedmaster. It was characterized by its high precision, sturdiness, readability, ease of use and reliability. This Speedmaster was powered by the calibre 321.

Other than a few minimal refinements, the chronograph remains essentially unchanged since 1957.

In 1968, the calibre 321 was succeeded by the 861. This enhanced version incorporated the latest technical progress and is still in production today under the modified appellation 1861, a change instituted in 1996 when OMEGA introduced the high-grade rhodium-plated finish on mechanical movements.

In 1968, American insurance salesman Ralph Plaisted and three companions were the first confirmed expedition to reach the north pole by land on snowmobiles. The team successfully used the same reference 145.012 Omega Speedmasters as the Apollo program along with sextants for navigation.[25]

Also in 1968, Omega transitioned the caliber 321 movement to the new caliber 861, also designed by Albert Piguet, with the introduction of the reference 145.022 Speedmaster. The 861 was very similar to the 321, but replaced its column wheel switching mechanism with a cam and increased the beat rate from 18000 to 21600 vibrations per hour. Most Speedmaster Professional watches from 1968 to the present have used variants of this movement, including the modern rhodium-plated caliber 1861 and decorated exhibition calibers 863 and 1863. A standard Speedmaster Professional model with Plexiglas crystal, solid caseback with anti-vibration and anti-magnetic dust cover, tachymeter scale, lacking date or day complications, and powered by a caliber 861-based movement has been continuously produced since. The tritium-powered phosphorescent lume on the hands and index markers of the original watches were replaced in the 1990s with non-radioactive pigments, but the fundamental design, dimensions, and mechanism of these watches have remained unchanged. In this form, the basic Speedmaster line has remained flight-qualified for NASA space missions and EVAs, after re-evaluation by NASA in 1972 and for use in the Space Shuttle program in 1978. [15] The current such model is reference 3570.50.

Omega has produced a large number of commemorative and limited edition variants of the basic "moonwatch" design, celebrating important anniversaries and events, emblazoned with the different patches for the space missions it was issued for, or evoking its motor sport roots with various racing patterns. It has also released many models made with various precious metals, jewels, and alternative dial colors for the luxury market.[26]

Over the years, Omega has also sought to improve functional aspects of the basic Speedmaster Professional. In 1969, it produced the Speedmaster Professional Mk II, with shrouded lugs and a flat, anti-reflective mineral glass crystal. In 1970, Omega launched the Alaska Project under Pierre Chopard, which changed the dial of the original Speedmaster Professional from black to white and created a removable anodized aluminum housing to shield the watch from a wider range of temperatures.[27] In 1971 and 1973, Omega turned to automatic mechanisms the Speedmaster Automatic MkIII and MkIV models. None of these proved as popular or long-lasting as the basic Speedmaster Professional "moonwatch", however. The Breitling TransOcean Limited Edition is the third watch to incorporate the brilliant in-house Calibre 01 movement.

The first two timepieces that were driven by this movement were the B01 and the Navitimer 01. Both of these models are available in Limited Editions of 2000 in Stainless Steel, 200 in Rose Gold and a standard non-LE version.

As can be seen from the above images the designs were taken from existing models, the Chronomat and Navitimer respectively, and given slight design tweaks. These were two existing flagship models for Breitling and it made perfect sense to announce the arrival of their brand new in-house movement with these two models. However, even the most die hard Breitling fan cannot argue against the fact that the B01 and Navitimer 01 are ostensibly tool watches and, as a result are fairly busy looking and could not truly pass as dress watches.

The TransOcean has been brought out to fill that gap. Breitling have sourced the name and the inspiration for the TransOcean from one of their vintage models. The original TransOcean was brought out in 1958.

This shock-resistant, antimagnetic, high precision and water tight timepiece was the epitome of refinement and soon became very popular. The TransOcean was brought out to accompany the boom in Transatlantic commercial travel. This was an era when the continents were brought so much closer for the first time. The advertising slogan stated “Men who have faith in the mighty liners of the sky will trust the TransOcean, for behind every Breitling wrist watch lies the experience of aviation passion”.

Breitling have incorporated a tri-compax chronograph, a date display and a tachymetre display on the dial of this re-edition. Even still, the first impressions on seeing the TransOcean is that it is undoubtedly a classical looking dress piece. Functional and elegant.

The TransOcean is effortlessly cool. This 43mm diameter watch is to be admired by the lucky owner only. At ten paces away it looks fairly generic and non-descript. At 10 inches away all of the subtle design details work as one, the high end materials come to life and the TransOcean becomes one of the most beautiful watches Breitling has ever produced.

What self respecting professional has the audacity to fight an election with only one candidate. The election apeard to the outside world as a sicofantic homage to preson who most ordenery people thing unworthy of the task.

Only the British FA had the professionalism to rise the stupidity of an election of one much to the criticism or the others. This is truly a dark day for football.

Will the FA’s criticism in time turn out to be justified only time will tell.

Sepp Blatter rode a crashing wave of anti-English sentiment within the "football family" to extend his presidency of Fifa for another four years.

Corruption scandals have caused alarm among sponsors, national governments and fans alike, but amid an atmosphere of bridling indignation, world football's governing body threw up the barricades in Zurich. Blatter loyalists mounted attacks on English press, parliamentarians and football politicians before celebrating his new mandate with a standing ovation.

In his acceptance speech, after Blatter had won 186 out of 203 votes in the ballot of Fifa's member associations, he thanked delegates for "your vote and your confidence" and pledged curtly to "put Fifa's ship back on the right course in clear, transparent waters".

An hour later, Blatter revealed that former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger would head the "politicians, celebrities and former footballers" making up the "solution committee" that would address the corruption problems that have shredded Fifa's reputation. Kissinger is a long-term associate of Blatter.

The vote in the uncontested election had taken place only after an attempt by the English Football Association to force a postponement suffered a heavy defeat, by 172 votes to 17. The FA chairman, David Bernstein, said he was exercising his democratic right to propose a measure without which Blatter could not have a "proper, credible mandate".

The FA initiative drew ferocious criticism from Fifa's second-most senior politician, Julio Grondona of Argentina. "We always have attacks from England, mostly with lies and with the support of a journalism which is more busy lying than telling the truth," he said.

Grondona confirmed his message that he would only support England's 2018 World Cup bid if the Falkland Islands were "given back" to Argentina because they "belong to us". He insinuated that Bernstein's measure had been motivated by bitterness at England 2018's failure. "It looks like this country doesn't like it and doesn't show goodwill. Would you please leave the Fifa family alone?"

Moucharafou Anjorin, federation president of Benin, the world's 72nd-ranked team, took the podium to say: "I'm ill at ease that this comes from a country like England with its football standing.

"Some people in Africa take great pleasure from watching English football on the television. This is why I do not understand why we want to create more tensions within Fifa. England should not be conveying this message. England should not divide us."

Joining Anjorin was the Congolese Selemani Omari – his country 122nd in Fifa's rankings – who delivered impassioned rhetoric with a veiled message to the English dissenters and media. "Fifa belongs to 208 associations, not one or another," he said. "We're ill at ease with people who wield unfounded accusations. He who accuses must provide evidence.

"We have no lessons to take. If there is a single candidate also sometimes it is because we are satisfied with the candidate."

In an attack on the English media that he did not seek to conceal, Costakis Koutsokoumnis from Cyprus (89th) said: "Allegations. What a beautiful English word. We must not allow people outside this room to enter Fifa's agenda."

There had been only one name on the ballot papers after the Qatari challenger, Mohamed Bin Hammam, after withdrew in an effort to clear his name amid allegations of vote buying. Bin Hammam and the Fifa vice-president, Jack Warner, have been suspended from the federation. On the platform Warner and Bin Hammam's seats, as well as those of two other members of the ruling executive committee serving similar bans, remained vacant throughout the proceedings.

Although football's political structures showed faith in the man at the helm, there are questions whether the storm has yet abated.

Theo Zwanziger, the chairman of Germany's federation, called for an inquiry into the process that led to Qatar winning the right to host the 2022 World Cup.
Zwanziger's words carry the force of a serving Fifa executive committee member after he joined it upon the retirement yesterday of Franz Beckenbauer. However, there were messages of defiance from other of football's senior politicians who bristled at the allegations swirling around Fifa.

"It is enough," said Angel Maria Villar Llona, a former Spanish international who heads Fifa's legal committee. "Let us not be led by these people. They are assaulting us with crimes we've not committed. They assault our freedom."

Before the vote, Blatter spoke of being the "captain of the Fifa ship". He only had to make modest concessions: future World Cups will be selected by the whole Congress instead of the 24-strong executive committee; an internal committee will examine Fifa's corporate governance; and the ethics committee will be strengthened, once again an internal process.

But his message of triumph was more one of congratulation for delegates' defensiveness. "I am happy we are able again today to bring this solidarity and unity which allows us sufficient courage and also a positive standpoint," Blatter said. "Something marvellous has happened today in this solidarity."

The watch is number 396 out of a limited run of 999 manufactured by Volmax the movement being 31681 a variation of the famous 3133. The movement is currently manufactured by Maktime who purchased the tooling for this series from Poljot.

The watch is of excellent quality, I have two omega watches and this watch is just as good a product, in the 2 weeks I have had it continually running it has lost 30 seconds, the chronograph buttons have a positive feel, the crown is smooth in operation. There is a 30 minute stopwatch function, a 24 hour dial and a 60 second dial.

DMOZ open directory project dead or alive?

Exactly how open is the DEMOZ open directory project? I have submitted sites to DEMOZ and never had a response of any type. Is this open directory project a dead duck? When you take a look most of the category listings have not been edited since 2007 given the rate of change in the rise and fall of web based business and interest groups it is hard to understand how such a directory can be taken seriously when the categories are being edited in periods greater than one year. Given its historic presence I would have estimated that each category must have a number of applications each day, take the category business services, design this has not been edited since 2009.

So is this directory project finished or are the editors so elitist that they have not had any sites of merit in two years. I had considered corruption, though the logical outcome would be more listing, there is always vested self interest a small club who wish to keep it that way.

I know of a number of people who have applied to become editors and have been refused, I also know of editors that have been kicked off the system for not logging into the system frequent enough.

So how can it be possible to run a open directory project in a fast changing environment with a review period of years, where no sites are added and the directory is full of dead links, the answer is you can’t certainly not a credible one.

So DEMOZ may not be dead but is certainly on life support.

So what are other people’s views?

A typical school locker is 300mm wide, 300mmt deep and 1.8m high. The dimensions are meant to balance the needs of students -- who desire sufficient space for their books, jackets and bags -- and the concerns of school officials, who don't want lockers so large as to hold an entire wardrobe or an entire student.

In the UK, the current crop of high school students count locker space among their top grievances -- on a par with bullies, bland cafeteria food and the scarcity. They say there just isn't enough room.

Lockers aren't getting smaller. Lockers are one of the few things that haven't changed much in the daily life of students. But bulky textbooks have spawned bulky backpacks, some of which, in turn, have taken the next evolutionary step and grown wheels.

Crowd-control issues have led heads to restrict the times students may go to their lockers and to shorten periods between classes; some students at sprawling high schools have stopped using lockers altogether because of that. Similar crowding concerns have led administrators to ban backpacks in classrooms and common areas; a 40-pound pack on the back of a 70-pound student is not good for their health, causing collisions and the occasional fight.

All this makes kids more dependent on the locker as a place to unload.

Never is the inadequacy of locker space more evident than in the depth of winter. Many students say that once they hang up a coat, the locker will hold little else.

The main factor in providing adequate space is the width of the locker and not the height, why is it that schools always chose 300mm wide lockers when this is the least suitable size.

This is one of my favorite restaurants to have lunch, a simply decorated restaurant serving the most amazing fish and sea food, cooked simply. There oysters are truly amazing they produce their own oyster beds at Butley Creek, the fish they also smoke.

On my last visit my wife and I shared a plate of wife bate which was cooked to perfection, my wife then had a Griddled selection consisting of squid, mussels, prawns and sardine, griddled with garlic and served with a garlic mayonnaise, I had the crab served with a garlic salad dressing and bread.

So if you are looking for a relaxing lunch in a picturesque village by the sea, serving excellent sea food in plain surroundings then you could do no better, the restaurant is situated on the Market Square between Orford Church and the Castle.

BBC 4 Extra given the mighty recourses of the BBC and there marketing department who came up with the ground breaking new name for radio7. I would strongly recommend another round of cost savings aimed at the relevant department.

Now I know that things have to change, that they have announced that radio 4 needs to target a younger audience and an audience outside of the south of England. I actually live in the south though I come from the north and I am under 50 so I should be the type of person they are aiming for.

I actually like radio 4 and also like radio 7 though I would like to see changes to the programming, I would like to see the end of woman’s hour a truly sexist program and one that any person under the age of 30 would find truly outdated, other programs in the outdated category would be just a minute and desert island discs.

So the great strategic planners at the mighty BBC have harness all there recourses and come up with radio 4 extra, this implies that it is radio 4 with a bit more stuff, what a waste of opportunity taking two excellent channels and producing something that is less than the sum. Given that digital radio is perceived as a younger audience why not move all the old junk from radio 4 to radio 4 extra, I doubt this is going to be a winning formula.

Would it not have been a better idea to have undergone some extensive market research targeting the geographic areas and age groups, analysing this data and then producing a strategic plan to implement over time.

Suffolk County Council has now formally written to all the parents/guardians of children and young adults holding explorer cards in Suffolk announcing the end of the scheme on 31st March 2011 the letter was issued by Tracey Vobe Passenger Transport Services Group Manager. So what is wrong with this, they need to make cuts! Firstly is they are going to cut the concessionary fairs of the youth I would suggest it is pointless having a transport policy, we could start by ending the Passenger Services GROUP Manager, eliminate the department and use the money to continue the scheme. I also find it completely lacking in any judgement to waste money in sending a letter informing the holders of explorer cards that the scheme is at an end, if the council is so in need to cost savings we could have started with the cost of producing and distributing the letters.

It is disappointing that Suffolk County Council think so little of the youth of the county.

Suffolk county Council have announced that they will be withdrawing the funding for the Explore Card from 1 April 2011. The decision was agreed by full Council, on the 17 February and is part of a series of measures the council must introduce in order for them to make the savings that is needs to make.

This means that from 1 April 2011 your Explore card can no longer be used as a travel discount card.

If your card is still valid after 31 March 2011 you can continue to use it as proof of age card until its expiry date. Alternative National Proof of Age Cards are available, please see www.pass-scheme.org.uk for more details.

Please note that new cards or reprints of lost and damaged cards will not be issued after 31 March 2011. Bus and train operators have been advised to retain any Explore cards that are being used past their expiry date and return them for secure disposal.

This is one of my favourite places to dine, it has everything I look for good food, good beer and good surroundings, being a lover of good ale you can’t go wrong at the ship, they have a good selection of ale and beers, they always have two barrels of Adnams bitter behind the bar there is nothing finer than a good pint of bitter straight from the barrel. So if you think I find the beer excellent it is nothing compared to the food. On my wife and I last visit she had the steak and ale pie which is served in an enamel tin, I had skate wing served with prawns and capers on a bed of mashed potatoes, magnificent. We enjoyed it so much we decided to go for the desert Campaign jelly, a lovely jelly filled with berries and ice cream, I has the bread and butter pudding with apricot.

Two very satisfied and rather full customers left after a very pleasant evening.

The Aldeburgh Market Café is part of the Aldeburgh Market a shop selling fresh fish vegetables and other delicacies, the café is assessed through the shop. The cafe is rather unassuming and could be easily missed if you are walking down the high street which would be unfortunate as it is one of the best lunchtime venues in Aldeburgh. They have a menu of existing dishes from light bites to curries, there is always a specials board which should be studied.

On my last visit my wife and I both had the seafood risotto which was topped with a scallop that was cooked to perfection along with some of the best large prawns I have had. If you fancy a departure from the standard frothy coffee towards something more refreshing they offer a selection of tea my wife had the green tea and fresh ginger I had the fresh mint tea, delightfully refreshing. My wife would recommend the kedgeree, Singapore noodles, and fish pie, I would recommend the fish curie, soup and the mussels. If you where so impressed by the food you can also purchase it in the market.

All this and a nice peaceful environment what more could you ask for.

What could be better than a Sunday walk along the river at Woodbridge especially when the tidies in. The scenery is breathtaking especially on a sunny day when the white painted wood on the tide mill stands prominent. People strolling along the river front walking dogs and feeding the ducks bobbing about the river.

So what could be better than some excellent food I would recommend The Waterfront Cafe we certainly enjoyed a very nice lunch, the hard part was choosing from the game hotpot or the home made wide boar burgers. We both had the skate wing served with leeks and new potatoes, the skate was a good size and very fresh the leeks where the best I have ever had we both enjoyed it so much we decided on opting for the desert, another hard choice was it to be rhubarb crumble, scone, apple and apricot crumble or the crem brule, my wife chose the crem brule and I opted for the bread and butter pudding both excellent choices.

My recommendation as to what to do next would be to walk the river take in the scenery and walk off the meal, all in all a very enjoyable day.

Bank tax, government by popular policy

When will government give up attempting to create bad policy just because it will appear to be popular?

The latest bank tax announcement is a particularly good example, liked by the press and masses for about 5 minutes, its legacy like the Labours pension stealth tax could have long reaching consequences.

With banks making up a large proportion of the countries tax revenue it seems short sited to make it less attractive beneficial to base their operations in the UK.

Will this mean a mass exodus, no though it is likely to influence any decision as to where to base future expansion or contraction.

George Osborne why so near to the budget have you announced the tax change now? I would suspect it is all about publicity and being seen to do something.

As for the recent agreement regarding business lending targets, pitiful, there are a number of mechanisms in place to facilitate lending to small and medium sized businesses one being the small firms loan guarantee scheme, this has been intentionally sidelined by the banks and most have little knowledge of the product, why, because they don’t like it and will not use it. George Osborne could have used this as a mechanism for driving lending.

Now you may think I am a strong supporter of the UK banking system, you could not be further from the truth.

Though I am a supporter for well thought out policy designed to endure.

Service engineers

Two of our service engineers are currently servicing electronic locker systems in Northern Ireland, the ferry crossing given the resent windy conditions the crossing was good. Reports form the engineers "the black pudding is excellent", and a small consignment is apparently on its way back with the engineers.

The proof will be in the eating.

The 3 years have passed at the speed of light; this may have something to do with the amount of hours you need to work when starting a business. Suffolk county council cuts

It is hard to understand how the county council has got itself into such a situation that it has to remove the explore card schema, removing concessionary travel from children. In such a rural county this will lead to much hard ship.

It would appear that the council has let our youth down badly, the word inept seems very appropriate.

The council has grown fat over the years employing more and more staff in less and less relevant roles, increasing staff salaries year on year, paying its executives immoral salaries and even attempting to justify them in the light of criticism when the private sector is forced to cut our cloth in line with our revenues.

Even now there is no detailed plans published on their web site detailing how they propose to cut their costs, without a fully detailed set of plans how can there be meaning full consultation. So it is unlikely that the citizens of Suffolk will be able to make uninformed choice about which services they would like to keep. I would be confident that the current executive’s salaries would be the first item to be reviewed. Suffolk council has a history of squandering its tax payer’s money.

If the county council wish to take their voters with them through this period of pain they need to keep them on side, this can only be achieved by full open and honest consultation, requiring the full details of their plans to be published in one coherent document.

Conservative or liberal government which is it to be in 2011

When did it become a conservative strategy to raise tax taxation in the grip of a recession? The increase in fuel duty and Vat to 20% will only slow the economy down. Is this government about to create the same mistakes the Japanese government made creating 10 years of stagnation?

The economy is only capable of sustaining a level of taxation before it has a recessionary effect. The increase in Vat and fuel duty will reduce the total sale of goods and so revenue, leading to a downward spiral. The increase in inflation is being fuel by increases in taxation.

The government has much publicised its aim to assist business in 2011, this could best be done by scraping the current Vat increase. If the government is committed to sucking the money out of the economy it leaves little there for business.

Which only serves to question who is running the government, it certainly is not the conservatives, it would appear that the best they can do is dance to the tune of the Liberals.

A conservative government would look to reduce its spending to an affordable level and at the same time look to stimulate the economy into growth. A growing economy produces increased tax revenue,

So with a Liberal government it would appear that 2011 will be a miserable year for all

One not to miss a fine selection of traditional Indian cuisine along with an exciting fusion menu.

We have now dined a number of times and the standard of food is consistently excellent though this is surpassed only by the welcome.

Ours being a typical family my father who on our first visit had never had spicy food and a daughter that positively dislikes anything spicy.

My father after a little discussion settled for a fusion duck dish specially prepared to be meet my father’s taste. My daughter convinced that she would be going home hungry was soon put at ease and offered a selection of her favourites settling for a very nice sister salad.

I on the other hand had an excellent tandoori mix grill accompanied by a hot sauce, when they say hot they do mean it.

To sum up excellent service a warm welcome where they place customer satisfaction first and excellent food, a place not to miss

Is the worst I have had to deal with, when you call you are filtered through the most horrid automated response system where more time is given to advertising there shop. As if anyone is going to be stupid enough to use them after a customer service experience.

It all started with my daughter wanting a new mobile phone for her birthday which I ordered on line, nothing happened no phone no acknowledgement, I phoned customer service to enquire. There has been a problem with the order would you like to order this with me, given it took me 4 calls to get this far I should have took the hint and said no but it was my daughter’s birthday so I ordered it. From then on all was very good they emailed me to tell me the phone was geeing delivered and so it was.

My next involvement about 5 days later was when my daughter tells me the phones speaker no longer works.

Back to customer service, the first call they said they would need to do some diagnostics on the phone and that was the end of that. The second call after some lengthy debate said they would replace the phone but the system was down so they would call me back, surprise surprise they did not, the third call they said they could not do anything and I would have to take it to the Orange shop, I could go into my response though I think you get the message. The fourth call was along the lines of the system is down you will have to call back, I made my feelings clear as to how I viewed there customer service.

My recommendation would be to anyone thinking of purchasing and Orange mobile phone through their online shop is don’t.

Orange customer support is a joke, there staff are badly trained, rude, unhelpful. Though they do keep telling you how important you are to them as you wait and wait for a person to answer the call.

We had a very enjoyable lunch at the Blue Light House on a very cold day between Christmas and New Year. The restaurant was extremely busy and given this the service was prompt and friendly the table was cleared before we were seated and the menu and specials where explained win a warm and friendly manner.

My wife decided on the roast lame rump with mashed potato and greens, the lame was excellent very tender and cooked to perfection slightly pink and very lean, I chose the battered cod, chips and peas, batter light and crispy, fish fresh, chips cooked to perfection.

We don’t normally opt for desert though as we were enjoying the lunch so much and the food was so good we decided to opting for the apple pie syllabub and the poached pear with pair sorbet, both where no disappointment, the only fault I could find was that the portion of sorbet was a little mean, though they had taken the trouble to make the sorbet themselves.

It is a massive disopointment that both HD broadcasters are mainly broadcasting the sound on there HD channels in Dolby 2.0. Given that all movies have been filmed in Dolby 5.1 for the last 10 years it is somewhat disappointing that these programs are only being broadcast in Dolby stereo.

Why is it that the broadcaster has taken the effort to broadcast the program in HD they have not had the foresight to provide HD sound.

It is sad that boots find that the only way to sell their products is with ad campaigns that negatively target men, it has been a long time since such advertisements where used that negatively targeted woman.

It seen that Boots are a sexist company that finds it acceptable to target men is such a negative light, given that cosmetics companies are increasingly targeting men it appears a very short sighted strategy.

There is only one way to prevent this blatant sexism that is to boycott the store and its products

I am just about to place some orders for laptops and have just had a slight problem with my Dell Vostro. Having previously only had good experiences with Dell support I was somewhat distressed regarding there attitude.

I have a small program Dell provided with my laptop called Dell PC Fax which I have used infrequently. Yesterday I had a need to use this program and it reported an error printer driver missing reinstall program.

At this point I headed towards Dell support to find the program, nothing there, I had a good look around nothing. Went looking for my original discs and program included. I thought I will give them a call nice people at Dell will be there to help.

After being redirected to another person I was eventually informed that if I wanted to proceed with the software support it would cost me £80, which is far more than the cost of replacing the program with something probably better.

This was somewhat of a shock when originally I thought that all I would need to do was down load the program as you would if it was anyone else.

Now the response is not good in my opinion, now if you take into account that the problem was originally caused because I had a hard disc failure.
So in short Dell want to charge me £80 to resolve a problem that they caused in the first place.

Now that is a way to make money.

The decision on which laptops to buy was going to be a simple one, now I will be giving it some thought and research, Dell laptops are expensive compared to others the only reason I buy them is the support it appears that now they have no advantage.

I can only say after spending many a day in Aldeburgh eating extremely good lunch you are bound to get one bad one.

Given Aldeburgh reputation for fish and chips I thought I was on safe ground ordering cod and chips.

Not so, I must say that the fish and chips at The Pelican were the worst I have had for many a year, the fish was the worst piece of cod I have had in soggy stodgy batter. it could not even be mitigated by a huge piece of fish. the fish was one of the thinnest fillets I have had. My 14 year old daughter who is a great fish lover left half of her fish. her opinion was fish diabolical, chips very good tarter souse nasty.

Service level poor with the staff needing considerable training to reach any standard.

I must agree the chips where good the mushy peas not timed, the fish to avoided, my wife had the beef stew and dumplings which was the best of the dishes, though she has complained that it has had the kipper effect on her for the last 5 hours.

in short unless faced with no alternative I would avoid completely you would be better queuing up at The Fish and Chip Shop which I would recommend completely

Given the depth of interest and comments some of it given the strength of comment involved with the restaurant, I will re-reviewed the restaurant. I will attempt to do within the next 4 weeks.

After a week of hell as a result of UK2.net email server failing I would not recommend them to anybody.

It is not the fact that the have had a catastrophic failure, that can happen to anyone it is the way

It has been handled. that I can only say is incredibly badly.

It appears from my communications with them that they were aware of this for some time.

Before they recovered the problem the server failed, from then on it was downhill all the way.
any email that was not delivered 5 days later has not been delivered, my main email address sales@total-locker-service.co.uk no longer functions.

They don’t seem to have a backup plan or a good communications strategy.

This is bad enough if you then take into account there technical support or lack of it, they moved there technical support in house some time ago and from that point what was a good support service became diabolical. I pay for a call back service and even before the failure I don’t think I have had a call back from at least 5 requests, I end up raising a ticket or they end up raising a no urgent ticket.

When the server failed it got a whole lot worse, only to be expected I suppose. request a call-back and surprisingly I don’t get a call back, rise a ticket and no action or what I consider to be even worse a stock statement.

I now have none of my old emails recovered and my main business email address is still not working.

Not a good provider if you want to run a business.

Having formed a new business in January I have had to negotiate the mine field of the web.
If it is not difficult enough producing a website, then web rankings appear to be black manic to me.
I have been using Google pay per click and it is very expensive with limited success.
What I need is a good strategy to progressively increase my web ranking.
