The Aldeburgh Market Café is part of the Aldeburgh Market a shop selling fresh fish vegetables and other delicacies, the café is assessed through the shop. The cafe is rather unassuming and could be easily missed if you are walking down the high street which would be unfortunate as it is one of the best lunchtime venues in Aldeburgh. They have a menu of existing dishes from light bites to curries, there is always a specials board which should be studied.
On my last visit my wife and I both had the seafood risotto which was topped with a scallop that was cooked to perfection along with some of the best large prawns I have had. If you fancy a departure from the standard frothy coffee towards something more refreshing they offer a selection of tea my wife had the green tea and fresh ginger I had the fresh mint tea, delightfully refreshing. My wife would recommend the kedgeree, Singapore noodles, and fish pie, I would recommend the fish curie, soup and the mussels. If you where so impressed by the food you can also purchase it in the market.
All this and a nice peaceful environment what more could you ask for.

May 2011. Just got back from short break in Suffolk, where on Friday we lunched at The Aldeburgh Market Cafe. Had the best fish pie all three of us had ever had served with really fresh veg. Fantastic gooseberry and elderflower ice cream to follow. Excellent meal and friendly staff. Don't miss it if you visit Aldeburgh. Can't wait to try another dish.
